Payment Terms
These terms cover everything you can pay for in Brightmere. They are part of the Terms of Use. Payments are taken for Two Fires Studio LLC by our payment provider, Stripe, on Stripe's own payment page; we never see or store your card number.
1. What can be bought
- Monthly membership: $5, €5 or £4.50 a month.
- Yearly membership: $48, €48 or £43 a year.
- Founder's pack: a single payment of $25, €25 or £22, for a founder's mark, your account name on the waystones, and the Founder's lantern for your yard.
- Gift membership: a code for membership time that you can give to someone else.
- Cosmetics: looks for weapons, outfits and pieces for your house's yard.
Nothing sold makes a character stronger. Purchases are offered only to people who live in the United States, a member state of the European Union, or the United Kingdom. You tell us where you live when you buy, and you agree to say so truthfully; that decides whether you pay in US dollars, euros or pounds, and the price in each is shown in the Shop. Anyone, anywhere, may play the free country. Prices do not include tax. Any sales tax, VAT, GST or similar tax that applies where you live is added to the price at your country's or state's rate, is paid by you, and is shown, with the total, before you pay.
2. How memberships are billed and renewed
- A membership renews automatically. A monthly membership is charged at the start of each billing month, and a yearly membership at the start of each billing year, to the payment method you gave, until you cancel.
- Your billing period starts on [the day you subscribe / the first day of the month]. The date of your next charge is shown on [the account screen].
- You can change the card used, and see your receipts, from the Shop on the title screen ("Your card and receipts"), which opens Stripe's own page. Card details are entered on and kept by Stripe; we do not store them.
- If a charge fails, we may try again over the following [7] days. If it still fails, your membership ends and your account becomes a free one. You keep your characters and what they have earned, as the Terms of Use describe.
- If we change a price, we will tell you at least [30] days before your next charge. The new price applies from that charge unless you cancel first.
3. How to cancel
- You can cancel a membership at any time in the game: on the title screen, beside your account name, press "Cancel membership" and confirm. If the game cannot be reached, write to [SUPPORT EMAIL] from the email address used for payment and we will cancel it for you.
- Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not end the period you have already paid for: you remain a member until the end of the current billing month or year, and nothing is refunded for the time left.
- To avoid the next charge, cancel before the day it is due. A request sent to support counts from when we receive it.
- Until the period ends you can take a cancellation back with "Keep my membership".
- After a membership ends, your account becomes a free one. You keep your characters, levels and belongings, and may still play the free country.
4. No refunds
- All payments are final. Monthly and yearly memberships, the Founder's pack, gift memberships and cosmetics are not refundable, in whole or in part, including when you cancel part-way through a period, do not play, or change your mind.
- This does not take away any right to a refund that the law of the place where you live gives you and that cannot be waived. Where such a right exists, we will honor it.
- If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom: you would ordinarily have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. What we sell is digital and is supplied the moment you pay. By paying, you ask us to begin at once and you acknowledge that you thereby lose that right to withdraw. The payment page says this again before you pay. [TO CONFIRM WITH A LAWYER: that the wording and the way consent is taken meet EU and UK rules.]
- If we charged you by mistake, charged you twice, or charged you after you cancelled in time, write to [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will put it right.
5. Gift memberships
- A gift is a code for a set number of days of membership. It is added to the account that enters it, on top of any membership that account already has.
- A code can be used once. It has no value in money, cannot be exchanged or resold, and is not refundable once bought, whether or not it has been used.
- Keep a code safe: whoever enters it first gets it, and we cannot replace one that someone else has used.
- A code [does not expire / expires 12 months after purchase].
6. Cosmetics and the Founder's pack
- These belong to the account that bought them, cannot be moved to another account, and change only how things look.
- They are licensed, not sold, as the Terms of Use describe, and last for as long as the game runs and your account is in good standing.
- We may change how a cosmetic looks or works when the game changes.
7. If you break the Terms of Use
If your account is suspended or closed because you broke the Terms of Use, for example by cheating, abusing the game's code or attacking the service, your membership and everything else you paid for end with it, and no refund is given.
8. Disputed charges
If you see a charge you do not recognise, write to us first and we will sort it out. If a charge is reversed through your bank or card company without contacting us, we may suspend the account until it is settled.
9. If the game shuts down
If we close the game for good, we will stop taking payments and give notice as the Terms of Use say. [TO DECIDE: yearly members are refunded for whole months not yet used / no refund is given.]
